DailyEconomic – Thailand and South Korea have started the first round of economic partnership agreement negotiations, with both sides hoping to strengthen bilateral trade and investment.
The three-day talks were held in Bangkok and chaired by Chotima Iemsawasdikul, director of Thailand’s trade negotiations department, and Roh Keon-ki, deputy director of South Korea’s free trade agreement negotiations department.
Roh said that despite the existence of the Korea-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement and the RCEP agreement, there is still room for improvement between the two sides, and the EPA between South Korea and Thailand is tailor-made for economic cooperation between the two countries.
In 2023, South Korea was Thailand’s 12th largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching US$14.736 billion.
