IMF predicts French economy will grow by 0.9% in 2024

DailyEconomic – The IMF said it forecasts the French economy to grow by 0.9% in 2024 and 1.3% in 2025.

The IMF noted that France’s GDP growth in 2023 was 1.1%, mainly due to product exports, and domestic consumption remained insufficient.

The IMF said that French inflation has continued to decline since its peak in 2023, and is expected to be 2.3% in 2024.

French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said the government has lowered its 2024 GDP growth forecast from 1.4% to 1% due to the wars in Ukraine and Gaza and the economic slowdown of major trading partners Germany and China.

The European Commission on February 15 lowered its 2024 GDP growth forecast for France to 0.9% from 1.2% in November.
