DailyEconomic – The Asian Development Bank raised its economic growth forecast for the Asia-Pacific region from 4.9% to 5% in 2024, and predicted economic growth of 5% in 2025.

Shantanu Chakraborty, ADB’s country director for Vietnam, said in the capital Hanoi that Vietnam’s economic growth in the first half of 2024 was good, mainly driven by a strong trade recovery, but also stressed that domestic consumption in Vietnam remained sluggish, with exports growing 14.5% in the first half of the year and consumption only growing 5.8%.

Chakraborty said that Vietnam’s economy will achieve steady growth this year, and economic growth may accelerate in 2025.
